“We continue to ask for your prayers for the people of Haiti. Violence and instability continue in the capital of Port au Prince. Fr Herol describes feeling safe and is able to continue with his work at the Marbial parish. Fr. Jean Marc Pierre has been appointed administrator at Sacred Heart Parish in Meyer following the death of Fr. Bertrand.
One of the main concerns is rising prices resulting a scarcity food and other supplies. As of the writing of this the gang violence has not reached the Jacmel area in the south of Haiti but transport of food and goods from the north where the ports are is severely restricted.
Sr. Wanda and the other sisters at the community center were recalled to the Dominican Republic in early March. They will return to Haiti when things stabilize. In the meanwhile they have sent food for the children of the community center. The food was purchased in the Dominican Republic with funds provided by POTHE and then transported by small boats to a coastal town in Haiti. The food was then delivered to the community center for sorting and distribution to the children as seen in the photos. Sr. Wanda hopes to continue to send food however it will be difficult because of complications at the Dominican Republic/Haitian border.
Thank you for your generous support of the POTHE Haiti program. Please consider making an online donation
