Family Religious Education is the core program at the Parish of the Holy Eucharist. Families gather once a month to grow in faith together. It is ideal for families with at least one child in grades pre-K through 5. It is also the first step in sacramental preparation.

Agenda
9:00-10:00 Mass
10-10:15 Breakfast
A simple breakfast will be provided. Savio's store will be open (where you exchange recitation of memorized prayers for religious goods!). A parish priest will stop by to start our meeting.
10:15-10:45 Large Group
Whole family learning in the form of presentation and large group discussion. We will discuss key curriculum themes and study a related work of sacred art. A parish priest will present on the month's topic.
10:45-12:000 Small Group Class
Participants break out into classrooms based on age. There is a class for everyone.- Age 0-3: "Little Lambs" (Playtime with music and stories)
- PreK-K: Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, Montessori-style learning
- 1st-5th Grade: A Family of Faith curriculum activities
- 6th-12th Grade: A Family of Faith topic discussions
- Parents: Adult catechesis and discussion on parenting topics.

What about Sacramental Prep?
The diocese recommends two years of sacramental prep. If your children are on track, our parish provides this as:- Sacrament Introduction (grade 1).
- Attendance at FIRE will fulfill the requirements of Year 1.
- Sacramental Preparation for Children (grade 2)
- Attendance at an additional class is required. This will be a traditional 60-minute weekly lesson throughout the school year. More information here: https://pothe.org/sacrament-prep
- If you have other sacramental needs, there is a space to indicate this during registration.
What about younger kids and babies?
We will provide childcare and age appropriate activities during our community meetings. These volunteers will have extra training to provide a safe and engaging space for our youngest parishioners.
What about Middle and high Schoolers?
This program is designed for families of all ages. Your older children will have the opportunity to discuss the material at their level during small group time. As it stands, we don't believe it is substantial enough for sixth to twelfth graders. So we have an additional program, the Oratory: https://pothe.org/middlehighschoolDo you need volunteers?
Yes!- ADMINISTRATION: This volunteer would help with coordinating materials and attendance at community meetings.
- HOSPITALITY: These volunteers would help with breakfast. Tasks include set up, clean up, helping coordinate potluck food donations.
- SMALL GROUP LEADERS: We will need small group leaders for the children. This would be a great ministry for a teen or young adult. Or a more traditional catechist could serve in this position.
